What to Pack for a Weekend Trip to Scorpion Bay

1. Surf Gear

If you're a surfer, you’ll want to pack your surfboard (or 2, or 3), wetsuit (3/2 and 4/3, depending on what time of year you are visiting), two leashes, and a couple bars of wax. Multiple surf sessions in a day are not uncommon here, so ensure you have everything you need for an incredible surf trip. If you are worried about the rough rocks around the beaches, consider bringing a pair of booties to save your feet.

2. Swimwear

Even if you're not planning on surfing, the nearby beaches are perfect for kicking back and tanning. Pack your favorite swimsuit and enjoy the pristine beaches.

3. Beach Essentials

A beach towel, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed hat are absolute musts. The Baja California sun can be intense, and taking measures to protect yourself from UV rays is essential for a safe and enjoyable beach day.

4. Casual Clothing

Scorpion Bay has a laid-back atmosphere, so pack comfortable, casual clothing. Think lightweight, breathable fabrics, and items like t-shirts, shorts, and sundresses. A few extra layers for cooler evenings or early mornings are also a good idea.

5. Footwear

Apart from your flip-flops or sandals for the beach, bring comfortable walking shoes for exploring the charming town of San Juanico and its surroundings. If you plan to hike, a sturdy pair of sneakers or hiking boots is also a good idea. With that said, 90% of your trip will be spent in those trusty flops of yours.

6. First Aid Kit

A basic first aid kit can be a lifesaver, especially when you're off the beaten path. Include items like adhesive bandages, antiseptic wipes, pain relievers, and any personal medications you may need.

7. Travel Documents

Don't forget your passport, driver's license, and any necessary travel documents. Baja California is a road trip away from San Diego, and border crossings are part of the journey.

8. Cash

While some places in Scorpion Bay may accept card payments, it's always a good idea to carry some cash, especially when you're exploring smaller towns like San Juanico. You'll want to try the local fish tacos, and cash often comes in handy.

9. Car Essentials

Jumper Cables and Tire Pressure Gauge: These items can be real lifesavers if you're driving to Scorpion Bay. They'll come in handy in case of a dead battery or if you need to check and adjust your tire pressure for the rugged terrain. We’d also recommend throwing in the following just to be safe: Water Jug, shovel, satellite phone, map of Baja.

10. Flashlight or Headlamp

Scorpion Bay can have limited street lighting at night. A flashlight or headlamp will be useful for getting around safely after dark.

By packing these additional items, you'll be well-prepared for your weekend trip to Scorpion Bay. This comprehensive list ensures you have everything you need for a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable adventure in Bajaaaaa.
